HE SAID I WAS HIS EAGLE
He said I was His eagle to try to make me see,the beauty locked inside me, my chosen destiny. He said I was a leader, and called to be His friend. My life would impact others, through me He would extend,His hands in sweet forgiveness, His arms in blessed calm.Through my life He'd heal countless hearts, and keep them safe from harm.
He said I was His eagle, my life was meant to soar, far above this wind tossed world, high above the shore. The shores of pain, the shores of doubts, the shores of misery. My life was meant to point the way, to help the captive see.To see that life is precious, my life more precious still,For I was born a priceless soul, called so by His own will.
He said I was His eagle, my wings were made to fly, high above all doubts and fears, determined in the skies. My wings were meant to carry me beyond all shame and guilt, beyond the walls of limits, from fear that I had built. He said I'd touch His precious world with gifts locked deep inside,my heart was given priceless gifts not meant for me to hide.
I'd never seen the beauty that God had placed in me.Instead I saw the broken failure everyone said I'd be.My wings were bruised and tattered from hands rough with abuse,my heart so badly damaged from years filled with misuse.I could not see the treasures that God had placed in me,thought my life was useless and broken I'd always be.
Eventually He taught me to trust in life and Him,he healed my wings and touched my heart became my closest friend. He gave me keys to love and hope, each day He truly blessed,He gave me life, and goodness, but most of all His rest.Today I soar above the clouds, as free as one can be,I see myself as He sees me---HIS Eagle, MY destiny!
~Jeanette Scott
God laid this poem on my heart at a really tough time in my life. And, at the time, I didn't feel like His eagle. In fact, I felt like a plucked chicken! I felt utterly worthless believing that nothing in my life would turn out for the good. Yet, God saw in me what I could not. Life can be hard and the things that we go through often have a way of making us question who we are, what we are about, what we can and can't do and we wonder if we will ever make it and how long will it take.I pray that this poem minister to you as it did me. We are HIS eagles! Each and every one of us. We all have our place to soar and to shine.

IT’S ONLY LOVE
I heard a knock outside the door of my heart,
Did not want to let Him in.
He said He had a gift for me,
Said He’d be my Life-long Friend.
He knocked ‘til knock was all I heard,
Patience, His middle name.
I asked Him what He asked of me,
Said He, “It’s only Love.”
This Voice of Love, it warmed my soul,
But chilled me deep inside.
Too afraid to let Him in, I stayed alone and cried.
Said He, “It’s only Love.”
My heart cried out to know this Love,
“Heal me now,” my spirit cried.
Wanted to be free from all my fears,
This reason Love did die.
He knocked ‘til nail-scarred hands did bleed,
Said He, “It’s only Love.”
Finally, flung wide the door and let Him in my heart,
He lifted me beyond my fears,
He came and healed my heart.
He called to me and set me free,
Said He, “It’s only Love.”
And now, I walk beside My Love,
My Love, He sure loves me.
Indeed, He died upon that cross,
He came to set me free.
With one last breath He cried out for all,
Said He…IT’S ONLY LOVE!” Jeanette Scott
